John Dunlap of Sisters, Oregon is serving as the regional director for the Pacific Northwest. John spent his career working on ocean and river vessels in Alaska and Oregon, retiring as a Columbia River tugboat captain in 2005. John was always intrigued with aviation and finally pursued his dream by taking flying lessons in 2006 following his retirement. He knew that he wanted to spend his time flying the backcountry so did his research for the perfect plane. In 2011 John bought a 1973, 180J Skywagon, naming it after his mother who passed away days before he took possession of it. John and “Betty Jean” have experienced many exciting days exploring the mountain airstrips of Oregon, Idaho and Montana. John and his wife Robyn have greatly enjoyed meeting 180/185 Club members at fly ins and annual conventions and look forward to bringing people together for future Club activities.
