Club Web Site and Mobile Devices - good news!
Author Last Post

Hello Mr. Merritt

Thank you for your email. I know that the people at Club Express are currently working on upgrades to their Club platform and that access from mobile systems like the iPad are top on their list of things to address. I have in a pinched accessed the club’s web site from my iPhone when a member has called me for assistance. And while the site is not “mobilified” it is useable. I have also accessed from a Chrome Book. Again, not ideal several months ago because the site treated the iPhone like a desktop web browser.

There have been changes however and the site has become more mobile friendly. Just now I am accessing the Club site from my iPhone and these are some of the screen shots. I am not sure if Club Express platform treats an iPad like a mobile device or like a desktop web browser but Club Express support will let us know.

Accessing the site from an iPhone. Initial update message about new mobile website capabilities. Notice the menu at the bottom of the screen as well.

If you click on the Lock at the bottom of the screen it will prompt you to login with your club user name and password.

I get automatically logged in because I had my phone save my user name and password for the site. When you are logged in you can click on the Person Head icon at the bottom of the screen I see my login info and I can access my member profile.

When I click on the menu item at the bottom left of the screen I can bring up the web site menu. From here you can click on the Member Resources to get access to that section.

When I open Member Resources I can select Documents.

In the Documents section you can browse through the library like you would on your desktop. Click on Newsletter to open it and then 2014 and then select the December newsletter.

Click on the green drop down arrow to download the newsletter.

The newsletter should open for you. From here you can save it or print it if you like.

I tried it on a Google Chrome device but the club web site treats the device like a desktop web browser which I think is correct.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Good morning, Mr. Merritt,

I’ll be very honest that I’ve never seen the website from an iPad. This is what I see when I open the website:

Notice the toolbar above the photo. That is where all the resources you mentioned are housed. If you hover/click “Member Resources” a drop down should appear as such:

By clicking on Documents in this drop down you will be able to access all the posted newsletters. I don’t know why an iPad would prevent you from viewing this information, but I wanted to assure you that it is there.

I’m including our webmaster, Arnold Villeneuve, in this conversation in case he knows more about the iPad conversion than I do. I hope that your issues can be resolved and you will be able to gain access to the many features available to you.

In the meantime, thank you for making us aware of this issue, and I hope you have a good day.

Sincerely,

Noel Stacey

Club Assistant

In response to those of you who cannot open the direct link to the newsletter, I've changed the links below to open to the page on the website with all the downloadable documents. You'll be able to open the folders on the left to get to the December Newsletter.

Greetings to all!

The December edition of the Skywagon World Newsletter is now available for viewing here! Plan your upcoming fly-in events, read up on some of the features of our new website, and see what some of your fellow International 180/185 Club members have been up to (pun intended).

Merry Christmas to all, and warm wishes for 2015.

Best regards,
